They say it takes a lifetime to know a person... I say even it would be impossible to know a person for 7 entire lives...
Expectations are the greatest weakness in any relationship. Though this is certain that we tend to realize that one should not be expecting anything out of a relationship, whether it be with family, friends, lovers, or partners, as human beings we continue to do this mistake and continue to hurt and get hurt.
The only way possible to stop this expectations killing the sweetness of any relationship is to understand that every human is different from each other and one would not have the same thinking as the other may have. Even the twins who are born of the same mother at the same time have difference in view and thought, let it be the looks.
One should always be calm if ever challenged with the greatest shock from a loved one, or any person in particular, and not waste your time thinking, how could this be happening?
Life is a game, and every time one puts on a different mask to portray themselves to you, so be prepared if ever that mask is revealed to their real face. It can be sweet or bitter as anything.
People do change like weather, so never live in your past, move on to eternal happiness!
