What do you think? Will cow urine drinks take off?
New taste sensation ... cow urine / Reuters
* India plans to launch cow urine drink
* Drink promotes ideology of Hindu-ness
JUST when you thought we were milking the cow for all it's worth, along comes a fresh idea: cow urine as a fizzy drink.
No, it's not a stunt. India's Hindu nationalist movement, the Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), says the drink is in the final stages of development.
The Times reports head of the department Om Prakash as saying the drink - called "gau jal", or "cow water" - in Sanskrit was undergoing laboratory tests and would be launched "very soon, maybe by the end of this year".
"Don't worry, it won't smell like urine and will be tasty too," he told The Times. "Its USP will be that it's going to be very healthy. It won't be like carbonated drinks and would be devoid of any toxins."
The Times reports the drink is the latest attempt to cleanse India of foreign influence and promote its ideology of Hindutva, or Hindu-ness.

Dengue Fever
Symptoms Symptoms of typical uncomplicated (classic) dengue usually start with fever within 4 to 7 days after you have been bitten by an infected mosquito and include
The rash may appear over most of your body 3 to 4 days after the fever begins, and then subsides after 1 to 2 days. You may get a second rash a few days later. Symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever include all of the symptoms of classic dengue plus
This form of dengue disease can cause death. Symptoms of dengue shock syndrome--the most severe form of dengue disease--include all of the symptoms of classic dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever, plus
This form of the disease usually occurs in children (sometimes adults) experiencing their second dengue infection. It is sometimes fatal, especially in children and young adults. |
Prevention
The best way to prevent dengue virus infection is to take special precautions to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. Several dengue vaccines are being developed, but none is likely to be licensed by the Food and Drug Administration in the next few years.
When outdoors in an area where dengue fever has been found
- Use a mosquito repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
- Dress in protective clothing—long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and shoes
Because Aedes mosquitoes usually bite during the day, be sure to take precautions, especially during early morning hours before daybreak and in the late afternoon before dark.
Other precautions include
- Keeping unscreened windows and doors closed
- Keeping window and door screens repaired
- Getting rid of areas where mosquitoes breed, such as standing water in flower pots, containers, birdbaths, discarded tires, etc.
You may have seen the Fiji Times article stating that Medical authorities in
It is important that you recognise possible symptoms you have Dengue and seek medical help early on. It's also important that we know of the possible diagnosis, as you can pass it on if bitten by a mosquito while having a fever, and that mosquito bites another person.
More about Dengue fever is available on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dengue_fever . For those of you that don't have Internet, here is the info:
NB: Do not take Aspirin.
Signs and symptoms
This infectious disease is manifested by a sudden onset of fever, with severe headache, muscle and joint pains (myalgias and arthralgias—severe pain gives it the name break-bone fever or bonecrusher disease) and rashes. The dengue rash is characteristically bright red petechiae and usually appears first on the lower limbs and the chest; in some patients, it spreads to cover most of the body. There may also be gastritis with some combination of associated abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
Other symptoms include
- fever;
- chills;
- constant headaches;
- bleeding from nose, mouth or gums;
- severe dizziness; and,
- loss of appetite.
Some cases develop much milder symptoms which can be misdiagnosed as influenza or other viral infection when no rash is present. Thus travelers from tropical areas may pass on dengue in their home countries inadvertently, having not been properly diagnosed at the height of their illness. Patients with dengue can pass on the infection only through mosquitoes or blood products and only while they are still febrile.
The classic dengue fever lasts about six to seven days, with a smaller peak of fever at the trailing end of the disease (the so-called "biphasic pattern"). Clinically, the platelet count will drop until the patient's temperature is normal.
Treatment
The mainstay of treatment is supportive therapy. Increased oral fluid intake is recommended to prevent dehydration. Supplementation with intravenous fluids may be necessary to prevent dehydration and significant concentration of the blood if the patient is unable to maintain oral intake. A platelet transfusion is indicated in rare cases if the platelet level drops significantly (below 20,000) or if there is significant bleeding.
The presence of melena may indicate internal gastrointestinal bleeding requiring platelet and/or red blood cell transfusion.
Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided as these drugs may worsen the bleeding tendency associated with some of these infections. Patients may receive paracetamol preparations to deal with these symptoms if dengue is suspected

Memory Improvement in 3 points !!
Changing tasks and taking strategic breaks in the middle of a task when you are studying is a great way to improve your memory of what you study. Taking breaks, especially in the middle of something might seem counterintuitive, but you will get exponentially better results from the time you put in. By studying smarter rather than harder, you can accomplish much more in much less time. Not only is it easier to remember something that you have left incomplete, it is also easier to remember what you do at the beginning and what you have done most recently.
2) Forgetting the Right Things
To develop your memory and increase efficiency, you must first choose the method of remembering that you want to focus on. For example, memorizing poetry will not help you to recall people’s names easily. In order to improve your memory, you must decide on the type of memory you want to achieve. Determine this based on your profession, or on your own specific requirements, questioning aspects such as “Is it necessary to have a good memory for names in my profession?” By analyzing your memory needs, you will have a more precise idea of what type of memory you should cultivate.
3) Making use of your Subconscious Mind
Whatever your mind dwells on before you go to bed becomes fodder for your subconscious mind. In order to harness its power, make a quick review of the material that you want to recall in an easily accessible format such as mind maps. You will find that this will greatly improve your memory on that material, and for an additional you go to sleep can do a great deal to improve your memory of that material. For a heightened memory, go through the same material when you wake up the next day. You will experience a deeper understanding of the material, and this will make remembering it a breeze.

What is Guillain-Barre syndrome(GB- Syndrome) "
Introduction
Guillain-Barre syndrome is an uncommon inflammatory disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves, typically causing severe weakness and numbness that usually starts in your extremities and quickly worsens. Eventually your whole body can become paralyzed, even the muscles used for breathing.
The exact cause of Guillain-Barre syndrome is unknown, but it sometimes is triggered by a respiratory infection or the stomach flu. Luckily, this potentially deadly disorder is relatively rare, occurring worldwide in only one or two people per 100,000. All age groups can be affected, but it occurs most often in young adults and the elderly.
In its most severe form, Guillain-Barre syndrome is a medical emergency requiring hospitalization. About 30 percent of the people who have the disorder will temporarily need the help of a machine to breathe.
There is no cure for the disorder, but several treatments can ease symptoms and reduce the duration of the illness. Most people recover completely from even the most severe cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Nerve and myelin sheath |
Guillain-Barre syndrome destroys the protective covering of the peripheral nerves (myelin sheath), disabling the nerves from transmitting signals to the muscles |

how to survive a heart attack...
HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Do try to read and understand this practice and also tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save yours and their lives!!

effects of insomnia and sleeping late...
one of my uncle, Myo Win, sent me this piece of advise when he saw me online at around 3.55am in the morning, surfing as to pass time coz i could not sleep. This article rather opened my eyes to take care of myself and those around me...and hope it helps you as well...Important... if u don't sleep well,
The toxic in your body will accumulate..
Affecting your health and your mood...
The main causes of liver damage are:
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are the main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming overly done foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our body to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to 'schedule.'
Because: Evening at 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (de-toxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on her health.
Evening at 11pm - 1am : The de-toxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state. Early morning 1 - 3am : de-toxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 - 5am : de-toxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the de-toxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 - 7am : de-toxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.
Morning 7 - 9am : Absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 -10am rather than no meal at all. Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood.
Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.
